With this Hobby Horse DIY tack kit you get all the important ingredients you need to make a beautiful brown bridle with reins for your stick horse! You will receive instructions for a simple bridle with anatomical or straight browbands, reins and a martingale. The absolute highlight: All metal supplies in the craft kit are gold-colored, including the broken ring snaffle bit that we had specially made in Hobby Horse size!

The main component of the craft kit is a 4″ (10 cm) wide and approx. 53″ (135 cm) long double-sided artificial leather strip in brown. From this rectangular piece of leather you can cut individual straps, e.g. 5/8″ (1.5 cm) wide. You can also use it to cut out anatomic headpieces and browbands. Thanks to the length of the leather strip, reins are no problem at all! The leather is particularly ideal for reins and martingales. It is double-sided and therefore both sides look “nice”. The leather itself feels nice and soft, but still has enough strength for sturdy straps!

Metal supplies

The included buckles have an internal dimension of approx. 1/2″ x 3/5″ (12×15 mm) and look particularly classy. You can use the two snap hooks to make reins, which can be attached to the rings of the snaffle bit. The o-rings are needed for crafting a martingale, but you could also use them for creating a grackle bridle. However, instructions for a grackle bridle are not included in this Hobby Horse DIY tack kit, but they can be found in our book about hobby horsing or anywhere on the internet.

NOTE: You can use glue or rivets (not included in the Hobby Horse DIY tack set) to attach the buckles and straps. Sewing them on is also possible! A rotary punch or other punching tool will help you cut the holes for the buckles. Otherwise you will have to cut out those holes with a small pair of pointed scissors.

• 1x ring snaffle bit gold-colored, attached rings with inner diameter of 1″ (2.5 cm), made of iron-zinc alloy with nickel-free coating
• 5x o-rings gold-colored with inner diameter of 1″ (2.5 cm), outer diameter of 1 1/4″  (3.3 cm), thickness 1/8″ (4 mm), made of iron with nickel-free coating
• 10x buckles gold-colored, inner dimensions 1/2″ x 3/5″ (12×15 mm), made of zinc alloy with nickel-free coating
• 2x snap hooks with D-shaped eye gold-colored, height 1 5/8″ (4.2 cm), eye width 3/8″ (1.5 cm), made of zinc alloy with nickel-free coating
