DIY Easter pillow with butterfly, bunny or bird

DIY Easter pillow: bunny motif with line art technique

Cutting, gluing, and crafting Easter decorations out of paper is fun — especially when kids are involved. But let’s be honest, by the time Easter is over, half of it is in the trash, and the other half is mysteriously stuck to your furniture. So this year, let’s make something that stays cute beyond Easter and actually makes your home cozier: a DIY Easter pillow! Soft, stylish, and made to last, these sewn Easter decorations will brighten up your couch or chairs, giving your home a fresh spring vibe.

Make a DIY Easter pillow with the line art technique

If you love modern, minimalist designs, you’ll love the line art embroidery technique. It’s like drawing, but with your sewing machine! By stitching a simple cord onto fabric, you can create elegant Easter motifs without needing an embroidery machine. And the best part? You can do it with your regular universal presser foot—no fancy tools required!

Tips for a perfect DIY Easter pillow

Before you jump in, here are a few tricks to make sure your Easter pillow turns out amazing:

  • Pick the right cord – If it’s too thick, it won’t fit under your presser foot; if it’s too thin, it might wiggle away under the needle. Find that sweet spot! We recommend max. 3/16″ (0.5 cm) thickness.
  • Stabilizer is your best friend – Iron fusible interfacing to the back of your fabric so it doesn’t stretch or pucker while sewing.
  • Plush, not lumpy! – After sewing your design, iron on a medium-weight fusible fleece. This keeps the pillow filling from poking through and making your Easter bunny look like it had too many chocolate eggs.
  • Use our free templates! – We’ve created three adorable Easter & spring motifs that you can download for free to make your project even easier.

Free Easter one line templates for you

We’ve put together three free templates that fit perfectly on a 16×16″ (40×40 cm) pillowcase. But hey, if you want a giant Easter bunny on your couch or a wall decoration like we did with our Halloween motifs, just print them bigger!

🖤 Choose from:
✔️ Bunny line art pillow – sleek, modern, and totally Easter-approved
✔️ Butterfly line art pillow – a touch of spring that works all year round
✔️ Bird line art pillow – because who doesn’t love a cute little bird?

The ultimate finishing touch: a fluffy bunny tail!

A bunny without a fluffy tail? No way! If you’re making the bunny pillow, give it some extra charm by sewing a pom-pom tail from long-pile plush like our SHAGGY or long faux fur. It’s cute, soft, and guaranteed to make your pillow extra huggable.
