We’re incredibly excited to support the US Hobby Horse Championships 2026!

Hobby horsing has grown into a vibrant sport and creative community around the world, and the US Hobby Horse Championships bring riders, makers, and fans together for a day full of competitions, creativity, and fun. The championship takes place on August 1, 2026 at the Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, Michigan, where participants compete in disciplines inspired by real equestrian sports such as show jumping, hunter jumper, dressage, and more.

As a small business that designs sewing patterns, fabrics, and DIY kits used by Hobby Horse makers around the world, supporting this event felt like the perfect fit!

Supporting the Hobby Horse community

At kullaloo, Hobby Horses have been an important part of what we do since the start of this trending sport and hobby. Many of our sewing patterns and materials were created specifically for Hobby Horse makers, and we love seeing the creativity people bring to their handmade horses.

The US Hobby Horse Championships celebrate exactly that spirit: a mix of sport, creativity, craftsmanship, and community. So we’re proud to support the event as a sponsor, like a selection of prizes for participants and raffles. We hope they inspire lots of new Hobby Horses and creative ideas!

A special championship Hobby Horse

To celebrate the event, we are also sewing a special edition Hobby Horse that will be raffled off during the championship. This horse is being made especially for the event and will be a one-of-a-kind piece. I, Juliane, are a Hobby Horse maker myself, and although I have never given away or sold any of my horses excepts for friends and family, contributing something handmade felt like the perfect way to take part.

We’ll be sharing photos of the process as the horse comes together – from the first fabric pieces to the finished championship horse.

Made by a maker – for makers

Our connection to Hobby Horsing goes back to 2020, when the trend that had already become popular in Finland started spreading to other European countries. When I, Juliane, first spotted Hobby Horses on Pinterest, I immediately wanted to sew one for my horse-crazy daughter. What began as a single project quickly turned into many afternoons together at the kitchen table, sewing horses, experimenting with details, and dreaming up new ideas. In August 2020 we released our first Hobby Horse sewing pattern, HOLLY, with kullaloo, and since then Hobby Horsing has become something very special to me personally.

Over the years, we’ve been lucky to see our fabrics and patterns used by Hobby Horse makers all over the world. Watching this creative community grow has been incredibly inspiring – which is why supporting the US Hobby Horse Championships means so much to us.
