Free plush pattern for sun pillow "LALI"

Let the sun into your heart and your children’s room with our free plush pattern for sun pillow “LALI”! The cute “LALI” sun cushion (approx. 18 inch / 45 cm) is guaranteed to put you in a good mood while cuddling and relaxing. LALI is quick sewing project and also suitable for sewing beginners. The face is completely sewn on with the sewing machine, you don’t need an embroidery machine!

Needed material for the sun pillow sewing pattern

  • Fabric for the sun, approx. 22×36″ (55×90 cm) or 44×22″ (110×55 cm)
  • Fabric leftover for the cheeks
  • Black felt for the eyes or a non-fraying fabric like our SHORTY minky fabrics
  • Medium weight fusible interfacing to reinforce the fabric, 22×36″ (55×90 cm) or 44×22″ (110×55 cm)
  • White hand embroidery floss for the eye twinkles, approx. 8″ (20 cm)
  • Double-sided iron-on adhesive webbing (e.g. Heat’n Bond), approx. 4×6″ (10×15 cm)
  • Fiber fill, approx. 0.25 lbs (100g)

Since the sun is intended as a pillow for resting and cuddling, it is only stuffed relatively flat. In order to get a nice, flat surface and to avoid dents from the filling, a medium weight fusible interfacing should be ironed onto the sun fabric before cutting. This means you only need a small amount of fiber fill and you get a flat, even sun surface.

All pattern pieces include 3 different options for seam allowance, choose the one you are most comfortable with. Using Adobe Acrobat, you can hide the layers with the seam allowances you don’t need. You can find more details about that in the free plush sewing pattern PDF.
