The three have one thing in common: they owe their very special character to the long fluffy shaggy fabric. But the shaggy plush doesn’t just give them their particularly fluffy appearance, it’s also incredibly soft and will make anyone want to cuddle! Our plush fabrics are also easy to care for and very durable. They’re also perfect for sofa cushions, cozy blankets, pet beds, clothing, costumes and all other extraordinary sewing projects.
About shaggy fabric
A shaggy fabric is made of long fibers that are knitted into a fabric, giving it fluffiness and creating a pile. There are many different pile lengths and qualities available on the market. All of our shaggy and faux fur fabrics are one-sided, meaning the fluffy, fur-like texture is only on the top surface. This makes it easier to trace your pattern and sew layers of fabric together.
Types of long faux fur and shaggy fabrics
We currently offer two different types of long pile fabric. Our SuperSoft SHAGGY is a shaggy minky fabric made from 100% polyester. It is ultra soft and incredibly fluffy. It also has some stretch to it and a pile length of 3/4 inch (20 mm). We love using it for our cuddly monster and also for dog beds and cat baskets!
The second type of shaggy fabric we sell is a long faux fur called FANTASTIC Furs ✶ Fuzzy Fur. It is also made of 100% polyester and has a 3 inch (about 8 cm) long, silky pile, making it equally snuggly and shaggy. This top of the line fabric looks and feels just like real fur and comes in a variety of colors. The back of the fabric is knitted with a thick and durable, non-stretchy backing. It is the perfect material to use as doll hair for your handmade toys, but you can also create super stylish pillows, bags or apparel with it.
