Sew soft! with kullaloo SuperSoft
Our very own minky called “kullaloo SuperSoft” is an ultra-cuddly microfiber plush fabric made from 100% Polyester and is available in many cheerful colors and different pile lengths.
Our bestseller SuperSoft “SHORTY” with a very short pile length of 1.5 mm is similar in appearance and structure to a Nicky velours fabric, but is significantly softer and so much more cuddly. It is also known as Velboa fabric. We think it’s the best fabric for sewing stuffed animals not just because it’s ultra soft, but also because of its short pile that makes it lot easier to handle than 3 or 5 mm minky fabrics! It’s also very similar to the fabric you might know from squishmallow plush toys called Mochi Minky, but it’s much less elastic. If you need a fluffy fabric that is a little bit more cuddly, our SuperSoft “SNUGLY” with 5 mm pile lenght might be the right fabric for you. It has a very soft surface that invites you to cuddle and relax and is therefore the perfect all-rounder for a wide variety of sewing projects. It is more stretchy than our SHORTY plush and creates more lint when cutting, but it is easy to stuff and gives your plushie a cute fluffy look.
Tips for sewing with minky and velboa fabric
Minky fabrics are knitted and therefore do not fray at the edges. The fabric also has a smooth, knitted back so it’s easy to transfer pattern pieces to it. The plush is also very easy to care for: the fabrics are colorfast, do not shrink and are machine washable and even suitable for tumble drying. Buy our minky fabric in Canada and the US
You can buy our minky and velboa fabric in pre-cut pieces that usually have a size of 39.5×29.5 inch (100×75 cm). We also offer bigger sizes for selected colors, but those are also pre-cut, so we currently don’t offer minky by the yard or metre. This means if you increase the amount of the same fabric during the ordering process, your fabric will not be delivered in one piece. The size of the pre-cut pieces we’ve chosen is perfect for most sewing projects and it allows us the fast handling and shipping of your order, even if we’re “just” small family business!
